The BETA MAX MC1600 Transport Platform was used to assist the masons in dismantling and rebuilding the main tower of the museum. The hoist was also being used by the roofing contractor to bring materials to the work area. This project was challenging because there were strict guidelines to minimize the impact on the structure.
“We needed to limit anchoring and needed a transport platform solution that could be installed on the scaffold, which was not anchored to the structure. After researching what equipment was on the market that would meet our needs, the team at BETA MAX gave us our solution with the MC1600. Without this unit, the only alternatives would’ve been ropes and pulleys or craning material to each location and elevation. This would have been expensive, inefficient, and not nearly as safe.”

According to Service Scaffold’s Director of Field Operations, James Baker, the installation of the MC1600 was not only fast, but relatively easy. As with anything, proper training is an important factor. By sending their team down to the BETA MAX facility for training, they not only got the knowledge and training they needed, but also gained confidence from being able to review their specific project and get help with their install plan from BETA MAX Director of Tech David Reinert.
“The GC and contractors are extremely happy with the hoist. Everyone is able to safely and efficiently access the work areas and bring all necessary tools and equipment to each landing. I am happy to report that in the 5 months we have had the BETA MAX transport platform in use, we have not had one service-related issue.”
Josh Ingber said that now that they have the MC1600 in their fleet, it gives them a lot more capabilities and options.
“Having a transport platform with light enough forces to tie into scaffolding is a game changer for us. It allows us to not only offer our clients another solution for transporting workers and material, but it also can benefit our crews during erecting and dismantling our own scaffold.”
